Venlo - A town situated on the main NS line from Utrecht C.S.(Centraal Station) and Utrecht H.S. (Hollands Spoor) and Duren on the one side, and Maastricht on the other connecting to Belgium. This is the view from the river. The white building is the town side of the station. Also visible is the NZH bus. (NZH is a widespread bus company in the Netherlands). Here we can see from a bit further back. Th boat in the foreground is used to pull or push barges. This bay in the river is perfect for windsurfing. Also noteworthy is that the buildings are a little lower than the water, and are protected by a dyke, on top of which runs a the road to Duren. The dyke continues on the right to protect the town from a small tributary river. Again a view from the bay showing row boats and in the distance the Rail Road station again. Our winsurfer up close A closer view of the row boats Here we can clearly see the road on top of the dyke with the town behind it. The road continues. Next to it is the small river. On the other side is the side of a large hill. This area is the only place that the Netherlands has some small mountains. After crossing the rail line at a controlled lebel crossing, the road continues towards Duren on the Venlosche Straatweg. The draw bridge (to accomodate barge traffice) over the smaller river is visible in the back ground. Behind it, the first buildings of Duren are visible. | Utrecht | Arnhem | Other Netherlands | Venlo | | Germany | Netherlands | The Mine at Erstein (LUX) | Semmerling Bahn | Echternach Luxembourg | Lengmoos | River Region 11 | | Layout Pictures | Introduction | Building the Layout | Rolling Stock | Along the tracks | Destroying the Layout | New Layout | | Return Home | Contact | Links | News | FOR SALE | |
